Lx and Havok are back, half-packing for a road trip while the first hard frost creeps in like a rude Canadian ex. We rage about the death of real sweatpants (“If it doesn’t balloon out and swallow your shoes, it’s not sweatpants, it’s betrayal”), mourn the extinction of women’s pockets, worship rotary engines like the stoned genius inventions they are, swap 1970s skateboard scars, explain why 50-year mortgages are just slavery with better marketing, and confess our undying hatred for mushrooms (they squeak, they lie about tasting like chicken, they must be stopped). Also: chicken paws in soup stock, Rottweilers eating entire floors, the wife magically replacing wallets, and a solemn promise that the sweet potatoes are coming out of the ground whether they like it or not.Basically two dudes refusing to adult while the garden tries to die on us, peak Space Tomatoes energy.Grab your baggy pants, crank the volume, and come freeze your tomatoes off with us

0:00 Boom. all right everybody welcome back to another episode of the space tomatoes podcast we're glad you're here with us i'm one of your hosts havoc lx hello welcome back we're happy to have you here up and raring to go right what are we doing today what am i doing today uh i don't know just relaxing packing yeah working on that it's only five days only five days yeah i mean if you want to pack that car perfectly you know you got to get it all ready you don't even have the car yet that shouldn't stop you i mean honestly you can pack it all in neat little containers and get it all specced out based on the cargo capacity of the vehicle and you know i don't even know what it's going to be yet i hate that part oh i wish they would tell you yeah that sucks they're like or similar or similar that's exactly what it is like how similar are we talking about here like like we did call them and ask them and they're like uh well it could be a you know we have a rogue
1:32 or a i don't know a bronco sport or something else i don't remember what they said a mazda something or other a mazda i mean they're all kind of similar i guess yeah except those mazdas they they they went back to that rotary engine stuff no yeah i heard they were going back to it nah that's a good engine design nah they wear out hundred thousand miles are done yeah but it's fine still a really good engine design yeah actually the the one mazda model the what was the one I was looking at? CX-50. It actually has the hybrid model. Toyota, 2.5 in it.
2:14 Oh, really? It's made by Toyota. So it'll actually last. Maybe. That part of it, anyway. Something. I don't know about the rest of the car. Right. Wheels fell off, but hey, the engine's good. I mean, we're still talking like 40 grand for, you know, a little tiny SUV thing. Just think about this. like some some dude some engineer somewhere at one point went like i i swear he was taking bong rips he must have been and he's like no man i got a better idea we're gonna have the whole engine move around the cylinders you do what you know what i mean the rotary engine the whole concept oh the wankle engine yeah everything doing the yeah you're like why would you do that there just seems like so much extra effort right there but it's apparently very efficient yeah for the for the power yeah they're just they're they're not the longevity is not there yeah sad sad we need someone else take some very expensive to rebuild yeah i'd imagine very like it's not real feasible oh i saw this engine thing that was pretty cool i meant to send to you it's like some huge engine like gigantic it was i guess used for pushing gas gas pressure gas i can't remember what it's called but it's it's apparently an eight cylinder engine it's got two it's pretty insane it's huge it fills the whole building this engine oh wow yeah it's pretty cool it's pretty cool i'll have to send it because it was really cool maybe i'll put that up in here
3:48 somewhere if i can i don't know it seems like it'd be cool maybe it won't back in the day i'd probably try stuffing something like that in the mustanger you know i don't you wouldn't yeah you need a lot of mustangs a whole lot of mustangs a very it's a big big big engine yeah it's crazy very very crazy very cool stuff i don't know how i came across it i was just doing stuff and next thing you know i was like hey and i'm like what is that and they're like it's an engine i'm like it doesn't look like an engine to me but okay probably you know death scrolling through tiktok for hours and that's how you ran across it no i don't do tiktok so i think i was actually no i was actually in telegram i think uh on oh okay one of the one of the channels that i i follow when they posted it i think that's where i found it but i don't do i know you've sent me tiktok stuff before it probably came from somebody else then huh yeah yeah i mean tiktok's everywhere the little clips and stuff.
4:54 But I don't do TikTok. Yeah. Like people send the link for TikTok and I'm like, same with the Facebook. Because you click on it. It's like create an account. And I'm like, no, I don't want to. I'll consume the content if you're going to dole it up. But I'm not creating an account. I don't want anything to do with your platform. Thank you very much. Bye bye. Yep. Yeah. so we got our first frost coming up here supposed to get down to 28 degrees that sounds like fun that's not very many degrees i mean unless you went to college i mean if you went to college and you had 28 degrees that's a lot of degrees but like in weather it's not so many degrees you know like i don't know that's not many degrees and and it's going to be very degree-less and cold.
5:50 I mean, 28, those people we watch from Alaska, they'd probably be in like t-shirts and shorts. Oh, yeah, they'd be golfing. They'd be laughing at you. They'd be golfing. They'd be like, it's such a beautiful day out. No, it's not. Yeah, I suppose it's all in your perception, right? It's supposed to get a little cold here, too. I don't think it's supposed to go below freezing, hopefully. I mean, if it does, it does. but that's the end of our, well, we were doing an experiment to see if we can get one more round of tomatoes and squash out before the freeze. I don't know. We got some squashes, you know, like six inch ones out there. They're getting there. Those are good eating. Yeah.
6:30 I mean, baby squash is good. Yummy. Yeah. Worst case, we'll just pick them off and eat them. Well, you guys should be about 10 degrees warmer than us anyhow. So you'll be in the. I think that's about what it is. Yeah. Yeah, you'll be in the 38 range or something, so you should be fine. Tomatoes will be like, eh, it's pretty cold, we're not going to make fruit. But then it warms right back up. It's like a one-day event, you know what I mean? It's a darn Canadian sending their magic weather down our way. Like all 12 of them are sitting there at the border going, blowing it down. There's more than 12 probably, but I don't know.
7:12 i just don't know for sure there might only be 12 and a moose definitely a moose yeah i might have to bust out the sweatpants for like one day i'm wearing sweatpants i love my sweatpants man i do they're so comfy well they are you know why not so i bought some new ones like we went to sam's club and they had some like i'm not really into buying like new stuff but i got kind of i got my hand forced but the worst thing dude they like they're like these little black fluffy bits keep coming off of them like non-stop the pills i hate that yeah you know like three times already inside out you know what bothers me the most is it's near impossible to find what i consider good sweatpants okay like why are they all skinny jeans why why Why are they all like there's a cuff at my ankle?
8:10 I don't want a cuff. This is not a sweat pant. I don't know what this is, but it's not a sweat pant. It should have the elastic band at the bottom that closes up, and it should immediately bulk out after that. And it should just be baggy and thick and comfortable and feel almost like you're not wearing pants. That's what it should feel like. Not this clingy, like, I don't know what these are. These aren't sweat pants. please put it back please put it back and by the same token board shorts should go down at least to the knee and preferably a little below the knee not like halfway up your leg that's not a board short that's like a i don't know what that is that's not a board short not not to me that's that's not good don't do that anymore and while we're on the subject short now yeah they make them all short like richard simmons shorts pretty close yeah yeah all right i'm like that's not a i'm not putting those on i won't do it and while we're on the subject for crying out loud people women want pockets put the freaking pockets in the clothing for the women at least one you just give them a pocket like you know little kangaroo pocket the new fashion trend they can get kangaroo pocket or something i don't know but pockets come on there you go you ever seen those kangaroo shoes they had those when i was in a like middle school you used to have a little little pouch on
9:41 the side like you unzip them yep yep yeah that was before lights and shoes made me think of that no that was before lights and shoes and then kids had them too they oh that's way before lights yeah yeah that was before the little pump up tongues on them even and that came out everybody you know all the cool kids had that yeah and wheelies were like these weird frame skates that you could strap to your or heelies that you could strap to your shoes we didn't have like shoes with built-in skate wheels in them you remember those those death trap trap frames it's like a skate like a shoe, like a skate, but it was just a metal frame at the bottom and you strapped it on your shoe.
10:26 It was metal. Yeah. It was terrible. It's terrible. Terrible. They were like metal wheels and stuff, yeah. Yeah, it was terrible. Very terrible. Was it terrible? I don't remember it being terrible. It was terrible, yeah. Yeah, it was terrible compared to skates. I remember my first skateboard, it was plastic and it was about, i don't know really small like that big and the wheels were pretty ginormous and yeah big gummy wheels uh yeah huge my first one was was same multi-colored plastic with a little kick fin on it it was pretty short uh yeah i was in the 70s that was in the 70s oh yeah and remember we used to put the little uh used to get um uh kick plates for him right so on the on the kick fin right the little thing there was a little plastic thing you'd screw on there so that it would grind that off as opposed to your board because the board was just this multi-colored pressed plastic pile of junk right but man my first board wasn't even wood what my first board wasn't even wood it was plastic no that's what mine was too just multi-colored plastic pressed junk oh okay yeah with some grip tape on top of it that was it oh you got grip tape i didn't even have that yeah i had plain plastic well i was in california so we had made you know significant technological
12:00 advancements already y'all were just trying to catch up right that's all i remember my first wood you know like pro model it wasn't even a pro model it was some cheapy one but you know it's whatever my parents could afford at the time that had all that uh protective stuff all over it it had the nose guard the rails the tail protector the truck protectors goofy as goofy gets so it was so heavy it weighed a ton i know yeah i have skateboards all over the place i've got like I don't know, eight or ten of them. I love skateboarding. You get the big long ones, right?
12:40 Well, I have short ones, too. Oh, you do? Yeah. I wouldn't mind trying it again, but, dude, when you get older, it hurts a lot. The ground gets harder, for sure. Yeah, it does. It does. And it's further away. Even though it doesn seem like it it is When you hit it you gone a much longer distance Yeah It a reality Yeah Age provides that distance as well It's weird. Mm-hmm. Yeah. I don't know. I still love it, though. I don't care. I'm the old guy that's just out there on a skateboard, and people are like, what? I'm like, yeah, okay. Old dudes rule.
13:21 Maybe you need to build a halfpipe in your backyard. I don't know about a half pipe, but I would like to have like a concrete skate path that I could take and just like cruise around. I'm too old for any kind of trickery or anything like that. I just want to skate. I love the feeling of it. It feels good to me. It just feels freeing and wonderful. It's a yummy thing. It is nice. It is. It is. It's better when you have nice equipment too. It is. It is. Although that depends, right? Like we let our oldest, or I did, he wanted to learn skateboarding and I had my longboard out there just so I could kind of cruise with him.
14:06 And he wanted to try the longboard out. Longboard is typically, not always, but the ones I have are far faster, far faster than my trick decks. and so he gets on this thing and yeah it started going downhill and then yeah well he came off it and got a little hurt and you know yeah brushed it off did okay but still yeah the brakes didn't work the brakes yes no the brakes the brakes did work the ground worked perfectly exactly as designed and at his age you know not not really big consequence consequence dumping type event that's good yeah yeah i remember the one time my uh my cousin was hanging out and he dared me to go down like this hill like we lubed up the bearings on there got him you know we didn't know what we're doing he's like i bet you can't you know go down i'm like oh man i can do that yeah about halfway down you start just like it starts going you know it's done there's nothing you can do at that point speed wobbles except wait for the crash yeah yeah you can recover from them but they're they're hard you have to have a little bit of room and and start executing some slalom turns and and a lot of luck and hope yeah after i picked myself up off the ground and you know I got road rash all over me.
15:35 I'm like, hey, it's your turn. He did it. I did it. He crashed too. Yeah. Oh, to be young. Let's go do stupid stuff and get hurt and then do it again. Because why not? I had fun doing it. We did some crazy stuff. Nowadays, I don't think parents would just be like, you can't do that with your children. That's child abuse or something. No, it's not, but whatever. We live in a bubble-wrapped world, don't we? Kind of. Yeah. Got to make sure them chillins are protected, watched, monitored, tracked, traced, and analyzed at all times.
16:21 Mm-hmm. Yeah. Otherwise, they might be getting original thoughts, and that's dangerous. Have you seen what they're talking about to try to get these children into houses that they can't afford? They're talking about going to 50-year mortgages. Oh, that's a great idea. Yeah. Let me explain something to everyone watching, okay? when you have a mortgage okay so a 50 year mortgage is is absolutely like not your friend so when you have a mortgage literally the first half of the mortgage the half like in this case 25 years you've paid almost nothing into your house you've paid almost nothing so if you took out a 500 000 loan on on a 50 year mortgage at 25 years in you'd probably still owe 490 000 on the house.
17:22 Yeah, I was looking at the numbers on it. But you will have paid the bank an enormous amount of interest. So don't do that. Just wait. Buy a smaller house, one that you don't like, one that whatever, in an area that is doing okay. And wait. And wait. And when the value goes up, sell your home. And if you need to, rent for a while. And when the market goes down, buy the next one. and then wait it's all cyclical it's on like a 10 10 10 year cycle about every 10 years the market will go way up years man and then 10 years it'll go and 10 years down so it's you know full 20 year cycle in between but i mean if you if you plan this out you'll be okay yeah i guess they just expect you to work till you're like 80 or 90 now well yeah Now they're talking about raising the retirement age yet again, right?
18:23 Like 70 and a half wasn't enough, right? Now we're going to like, what are we going to do? Like 75? Ah, screw it. Just keep working. Screw you, plebe. No retirement for you. It's funny you picked that 500,000 number because that's actually the example that I was looking at. They didn't specify rates or anything. They're just going by, you know, whatever standard rates are. But at 30 years, you're paying like $600,000 in interest on a 30-year loan. Oh, yeah. And if you go 50 years, it goes to almost $1.2 million in interest that you're going to pay over the life of that loan.
19:04 Isn't that nuts? Yeah. And we think that's more affordable. Your best bet is to get the shortest mortgage you can. Period. Get a cheaper house. Again, you don't like that needs work that isn't where you want to be. Just sacrifice a little bit. Get into a 15-year mortgage. And by the time that 10-year cycle goes around, you'll owe very little on that home. I forget the best part even. What's that? The best part is the difference between the payment on a 30- and a 50-year loan. $250. bucks. Yeah. It wouldn't be much. Yep. Yeah. Yeah. To save 250 bucks a month, you're spending another $600,000. Yeah. And it's ridiculous. Almost 700,000. Don't get me wrong. Housing prices are ridiculous. It's, it's absolutely, especially if you, you know, and this is something like, you know, I used to have the same mindset, you know, I want to live in this area. This is where I grew up. There's people I know, and I want to live in this area. But the unfortunate part is where I was at is an unaffordable area for anyone that isn't like upper middle class.
20:19 And I was certainly not anywhere near that. Right. Um, and so the, the tough part is making those tough decisions to say, well, I can't afford to live in the area I want to. So I have to sacrifice a little bit and move to an area that I'm not real pleased about. It's not where I want to be. Um, but again, you're looking, if you look at it from a longterm perspective, you can do that, build up equity and then go get a house and the equity in your home can be the down payment. If things go really well, who knows? Maybe the equity in your home becomes the cash purchase for your next one.
21:02 It could happen. Right. So, but it's all about getting in there and, you know, part of it is struggling through it. Right. It's not easy. Home ownership is not easy, especially first time buyer, right? When you're a new home buyer, it's an exciting thing. It's wonderful. It's everything. But it's also a lot of responsibility and a lot of time and effort and money that goes into maintaining things and stuff like this, right? So it's not easy. It's not easy. But you'll figure it out. I mean, the other thing they don't tell you that you figure out real quick, especially if you have a loan with like an escrow, even if you don't have an escrow, but the taxes and the insurance are never going to go down.
21:48 So the first year payment that you get, that's the lowest it's ever going to be. And it's just going to keep going up every year after that for the next 50 years if you decide to do the 50 year deal. Unfortunately, unfortunately true. And it's a sad thing, right? I mean, at the end of the day, there should be, you know, puppies. It's a ridiculous. You shouldn't have to rent your property from the government in perpetuity. It's not home ownership. That's just renting, especially when they can just come take it.
22:29 if you don't fulfill that stated obligation. I agree. I think it's a ridiculous thing and it should be abolished. You know, I get it. You need to pay for whatever. I get it. Whatever. I'm not going to get into that argument because I think it's all a sham. But let's just assume that for the moment and the time being and the purpose of this discussion that it is necessary and you do have to do these things in the way that you do them, there should be a time cap. Like when your mortgage is paid off, that's it. You're done. You own it now. You're not renting it from us anymore.
23:10 Sorry. What about all the children and the fire department and the police? I think paying in for 30 years probably is enough. Honestly, I do. and and you know hey look i'm honestly i'd be okay going back to the kind of community-based piece of that right more voluntary action hey you know we all kind of chip in and fund and you know volunteer fire departments and you know all the other stuff and there you go and i think it'd work out better for everyone personally especially if it was you know done in in, you know, a decent manner.
23:56 But that being said, there's no, this isn't, we, it would be one thing if the stated funds were used exactly for the stated reason that they are being forcibly extracted from you at the point of a gun. Because at the end of the day, that's what it is, right? If you take it to its logical conclusion at the end of the day, it is enforced at the point of a gun. So. At very minimum, the threat of being homeless. So, kind of. Well, no, I mean, it goes like this, right? Okay, so what if I don't?
24:37 Well, then we're going to send armed men to confiscate your property. Well, what if I resist? Well, then we will, you know, we will apply force. Well, what if I don't want you to come steal my property and I put up an armed resistance? Well, then we will kill you. Okay. So at the end of it all, it doesn't matter. It all goes to, we will kill you period. That is the end of the whole discussion. It doesn't, Oh, if you just comply. Yeah. Okay, great. I hear what you're saying, but at the end of the day, every one of these things is enforced at the point of a gun with the implicit threat.
25:17 We will kill you if you don't. I guess you get a point. So, yeah, I'm not a fan of that. Ideas so good they have to be enforced at the point of a gun. Probably not good ideas in the first place. I guess they're putting forth some stuff here in Florida about eliminating or reducing the property tax. I don't know how that's going to pan out. I guess time will tell, but I don't know. They'll probably come up with some other clever way to get money from us. At the end of the day, consumption tax is the way I, if you're going to do something like this, just make it off consumption. A hundred percent. No no loopholes No nothing Just what you consume you going to be taxed at a specific rate and if you consuming more than other people then you going to have a much higher tax rate right uh just get rid of sense to me yeah get rid of the loophole if you if you buy it it's going to be taxed period that's a good way to do it i think i don't know well it's it certainly would seem a little bit more fair in general right the the family out there struggling to scrape up change to buy the old you know honda camry that's from 1978 so they can have a vehicle to drive to work is going to be paying a tax on that.
26:46 Meanwhile, the yo-yo buying his, you know, third Lamborghini to park in his garage is going to be paying tax on that. Yeah. You know, the dude out there trying to make a living doing local fishing, you know, in his little, you know, boat, you know, paying for that is going to pay for that. The dude with his mega yacht is going to be paying for that. Okay. There you go. yeah let's not even get on the price of vehicles those are ridiculous too it is it is i was looking just recently because of our conversation at some vehicles and i was just like day it was just this is new car prices for old stuff you know what i mean it's like how can an f350 be that expensive a used one with like 150 000 miles on it yeah you know this thing was a work truck and it was beat to crap and they're like yeah six figures baby come on no so i'm in i'm i know you don't like facebook i'm in some vehicle groups that you know like have the same kind of vehicle that i do and i help people maintain them and make recommendations to them and they'll come on there with like uh what do you think about this deal in this case like a 99 with 300 and something thousand miles
28:19 on it and they're asking almost four grand for it i'm like no yeah no that's not a good deal i'm like i don't know anything else about the car i don't know the condition i don't know the maintenance history i mean just based on that simple fact no that's not a good deal i mean no yeah yeah yeah it's it's it's insane so for right now no new no new vehicle for me yeah i well there won't be a new vehicle for me anyway i no i have no interest in paying that kind of a premium for something to have a three-year warranty or something it's just silliness and stupidity in my house i don't blame you yeah no no car payment is the kind i'd like it's raining leaves right now i don't know that there's going to be raining leaves right now i mean literally raining leaves right now nice yeah i don't know there's going to be much in the way of leaves when you guys get here next week so my wife will be very sad the color changes now uh but it and it is nice it's beautiful it really is but it's also not what it normally is because of the dry spell we had no they're just kind of falling off yeah pretty much although i will tell you this morning when i woke up the the color of the leaves down the driveway and you know the trees over it and everything else kind of looked like some you know norman rockwell type painting or something
29:55 It was pretty beautiful. Yeah. Did you take any pictures? No? No. Just put it in your brain. That's about it. Yep. Hmm. Those are the best pictures. Did y'all get some rain? We had some rain come through here yesterday. Like for the first time in a while. Very little. Yeah. But enough. And our bok choy came up and some of the radishes and stuff. So that's nice. Hopefully more stuff will come up, but we'll see. we got to get sweet potatoes out of the ground because it's going to freeze and that'll kill yeah we pulled all ours out because we needed the room to plant stuff we got a big box of them that are curing yeah they're probably done by now two weeks baby two weeks to slow the spread or cure the sweet potato whatever yep why is it two weeks two weeks with garlic too why why what's the two weeks what is that is it like does the garlic and the sweet potato go yeah man i i just i can't right now i need a little rest you're gonna have to give me a couple weeks in this dark box then i'm good to go i don't know what happens if you eat one before the two weeks you die instant death instant death like the first I mean everything's edible once exactly like the first people figuring out mushrooms like I don't know
31:26 that one killed Fred so you know this one tastes like steak oh look Jim's tripping balls what the hell I mean you know anything can happen I guess yeah i suppose yeah mushrooms very interesting very interesting do you like mushrooms i do not at all not even a little bit there's and i'm willing to try them i have every time someone says oh you'll like these you won't even taste mushroom i'm like i'll give it a shot but the second i taste that mushroom flavor that or it squeaks in my mouth i'm just gonna be like i so like we had some you know a couple weeks ago and added them to a stir fry and i i've never had much you know just like the regular kind you buy at the store i don't even know what they are um honestly they they tasted like i don't know you're gonna laugh like chicken to me they just kind of i don't know they take on the flavor whatever you're cooking it in yeah yeah and for the most part they do but then i get one of those bites that taste just like a mushroom and i'm like yeah i don't like that at all my lighting's all off today i'm all washed out i look kind of red that's all right yeah it's all right life yeah i don't know there's something
32:58 about him the flavor of him i just like you know pinch made his famous sandwich and it was really tasty um and for a couple of bites i didn't taste any mushrooms and it was really good and then i bit into one and i could taste that flavor it's gag worthy for me i just don't i must have missed out on that sandwich thing or maybe i just passed on it no he he came down uh it was just him so he came yeah it was just us and we made it uh he made it mainly yeah it was it was good it was a very tasty sandwich. You know how picky I am. What's that? You know how picky I am.
33:39 I probably would not enjoy it. Oh, I think you would, actually. It was really tasty. Yeah, it was really tasty. I just the mushroom was the only one piece. It was like I can't, I just can't get past that shrimp flavor. Blech. Blech. Blech. Yeah, no. Blech. Blech. make me want to do that it can't be that bad for me it is i don't know why but it is i just don't like them don't like them but again if someone has if someone has some and they're like oh these are the best you're gonna love them i'll give them a shot but i you know i'm not gonna tell you i like them if i don't and it's not you it's not your cooking it's me i don't like mushrooms like i don't like beef liver either i'll try it if you say you've got a great recipe but i'm gonna tell you right now i don't like it so i don't think i've ever had it it doesn't sound like good to me though it's it's highly avoidable and i would suggest doing so some people love it i just no i don't not at all hmm are chicken livers the same or are they different you know um i i don't like those either i've never actually tried them nobody's ever said i've made them they're going to be
35:13 awesome but i will tell you this i've had them in gravy before and don't like that gravy i don't like that gravy at all it tastes like liver and gross um and then uh i've smelled them and i don't like the smell of them they smell like nasty little filters for stuff yuck all righty then yeah yeah it's like opening up an oil filter and just chugging the contents or something it's like i don't know i don't like them i don't like it that was loud you haven't tried that lutefisk either have you no i have not i don't think i could i'd give it a shot though why not it's the worst that happens yeah i'm i'm very open when it comes to food i've i've tried some weird stuff right uh i've tried balut actually pretty good but the the real concept and idea was was pretty hard to get through um you know so i i don't care I've had chicken's feet and just wasn't terribly tasty to me.
36:26 And the little bones and all that. I saw them at the store the other day. My wife picked them up. It says chicken paws on the package. Yeah. Is that what they call them? Chicken paws? In the South, yeah. Call them chicken paws. Yep. All right. And grab you some chicken paws, throw a handful into your soup stock. Woo. It helps. It's good. All right. Yeah. you'll never even know they were in there either. They just disintegrate. They're gone. Don't tell me that. Toenails and everything. It's all just good collagen, baby. It's good for you. How'd you get all the chicken poop off of the chicken paws? Well, I mean, wash them. Come on now.
37:06 Yeah, but still. No, thank you. It's good. It's good. You got to try it. That's good. Throw some chicken paws on that stock. it's the way it's done boy I'll tell you what the over exaggerated what why we are here today I'm looking forward to your brisket that's one thing I'm looking forward to me too I can't wait to try my brisket.
37:48 Hmm. The one you sent back here last time was pretty good. It didn't last very long. No, we sent him with a huge chunk, too. He's like, yeah, it's all gone. I know. I mean, it didn't last very long. Wow. Well, that's good. That's usually a good sign. Yeah. Yeah. It's like, you know, you did dinner right when the dinner table is quiet. Hmm. Is that how that works? Yeah. Well, when everyone's chewing so much, they can't talk. You did something right. Nice. If there's too much conversing going on, man, it wasn't that good. Yeah.
38:28 If you can't wait to shovel the next bite in before you've finished, that's when you know it's good. Good tip to know. I'm telling you. I'm telling you. It's the way. What do you guys got going on today? This is probably it. I don't know. Might visit the in-laws today. Not sure. Give them a quick visit before we head out this week Where are you going North Carolina North Carolina I hear that place is pretty nice this time of year It is pretty nice.
39:12 Yeah, all the bugs are down. People seem pretty friendly. Some of them. For the most part. Some of them, yeah. There's some interesting characters around here, too. Mm-hmm. I'm going to visit you. They all know that. I'm pretty sure they've all deducted that by now. Deducted. Deducted. You deduced. Yeah, that too. Which is different than reduced. But if you deduce something and then you did it again, would that be re-deducing? Maybe. That would be an interesting one there. Re-deduction. sounds like probably not a good use of the english language or something i don't know look i'm just making up words as i go along don't get on my case no that was a good word it was archie buckler used to do it all the time he did actually yeah yeah we should put on some old shows like that at some point just throw them on there just laugh different times man different times that's totally yeah i don't think you can get away with half the stuff they they did on there for no you absolutely cannot no absolutely cannot i remember we were we were sitting at the house one time and our oldest and his girlfriend at the time who he was actually living with um came over and i i was like pretty baked and i'm like let's watch
40:50 something funny so i put on blazing saddles we got about 20 minutes into the flick she was mortified and was like i can't i can't watch this this is so wrong i'm like it's a comedy movie man but it's just so wrong and i was like okay i guess i mean you know it it is but at the same time this is mel brooks and it's come on it's obviously parody you know what i mean right so i don't know i i i thought it was pretty funny they they did not they cringed quite heavily i've never seen it yeah yeah i have to watch it oh really you never have uh you probably cringe too it makes people make some people cringe i just i laugh does it really yeah yeah Yeah. Yeah. There's liberal use of terminology that's no no longer considered socially acceptable.
41:53 All right. Yeah, it's it's but it's it is all done in comedy, right? There's nothing meant to be harmful or, you know, anything like that. It just it's a comedy. Right. And at some point you have to realize that comedy and parody are exactly that. and it's not a social, you know, issue or concern here. It's literally just comedy. It's a performance, you know? I don't know. That's my take. Hmm. I'll have to see if I have it on the few streaming things that we have.
42:35 Oh, I've got it. I don't know how well that would go over with the alpaca crowd. I'm guessing like a lead balloon, but, but it's funny, dude. It's old. His it's, it's historic. It's a historic film, right? I mean, it's funny. Everybody knows the name. Even if you haven't seen the movie, you know, the name. No, I've heard of it. Yeah. Yeah. So I don't know. You can find out, I guess. Yeah. We'll put something different on. we can watch that outside of the standard bounds there oh when's the puppy coming any news no i don't know we keep talking about i don't know it'll come when it comes so no updates then no updates well you could always get one of those hypersonic puppies yeah one of those uh malinois border collie mixes yeah yeah i mean why not right insane asylum here you come actually my wife just asked me today she's like what would you think about like a german shepherd malinois mix what are you coming from with this why why Why is the Malinois thing keep coming back in here?
44:00 I don't know. Well, so, like, not that I really want, like, a, you know, hyper missile type of dog, but they do live longer. I mean, that's a bonus. Yeah, they're a little smaller. That's why. Yeah. That's the worst part about German Shepherds. Like, 12, 13 at the most, maybe. Yeah. that's the worst part about all pets it doesn't matter that extra few years doesn't make it any better or easier or different really you know what I mean it's still there's a period of time and then at the end of that period of time the reality will happen alright I try not to think about the dog thing too much because if I think about it too much I'll probably come up with a hundred reasons why we should not get another dog but you know like when it happens it'll happen you could always i'm not gonna push it always get a little chihuahua uh no come on they're so that's not gonna happen no no i mean they're great for other people they're great for other people yeah i don't know i'm not a big fan i personally have a weight limit on dog and right off the bat if it's 50 or under pounds it's just not the dog for me yeah yeah
45:33 that's that's kind of my limit max was right on that limit he was a catalog a red healer alright and he was a good boy really he was a little aggressive but he also had this one thing my light is really bright why are you so bright today okay he had this thing where if you got him in the car to take him somewhere he would sing and I mean that boy could sing and it was very very very very very annoying like in the car like just like dude stop i can't imagine like having to have him in a car for several hours that would just not be good sanity never did that they uh they would do that when the fire engines went by sometimes.
46:35 Yeah, and this wasn't really even howling, right? It wasn't like a, it was just this sad noise that he would make. Kind of a howl, but kind of more of a, I don't know how to describe it. Yeah, it was very annoying. No long road trips with that dog. But he was a good boy. He really was. He was a good kid yeah yeah i think i think we kind of forget like the the kind of naughty stuff they did and we only remember the good parts at the end which is good hey i i don't i don't but yeah no no not really i mean it's hard to ignore things like your entire kitchen floor being ripped up and then redoing it and having it done again like that doesn't like come out of my memory and like oh yeah i forgot about that i mean i've already forgotten about the you know the gigantic hole i had to patch in the drywall and all the other things you didn't did you couches that well i mean i did until just now thanks thanks a lot those are part of the part of the adventure and and i wouldn't change it to be honest with you quite shocking a little surprising like how did you even but okay here we are a little damage amazing that we did it again
48:06 that's that's all i can say about that oh i told my wife when we got the rottweiler i'm like i just need to let you know damage is going to occur and it's going to be on a scale that will will blow your mind and i don't know what it's going to be or when or you know any of that right but i just want to let you know this will occur and sure enough and she was like i can't i can't even i can't how how this is insane i i told you i told you it's happened with every one of my rottweilers just at some point something goes boom and self destructs yeah that's kind of just how it is couch ottoman leather recliner freaking oh yeah we lost an ottoman to the floor the entire floor like why the floor why what what possessed you to rip my floor up like honestly what was that all about do you not like the floor i mean i don't understand yeah i remember back in the day i had a it was in the early 2000s i had a brand new shiny black pickup truck that was pretty expensive and uh yeah it looked like i got
49:36 attacked by freddy krueger because they got real excited to see me come home one day i wasn't happy about that yeah yeah they only uh they only buffed out so much oh well yeah yeah they they they can put a hurt on things that's for sure but we love them they're so amazing that that we do for some reason right yeah well it's all the other stuff it's all the other stuff it's the big hugs it's the kisses it's the you know the goofy look it's the tail thwomping on the floor or up against whatever it's those bodily waggles waiting for that curtain to pop open anytime right body waggles you know what i'm talking about it's not it's not just a tail wagging anymore like the whole dog is wagging and it's like ah how can you not love that you know so yeah it's all that stuff and i'm looking forward to seeing your pup me too i enjoyed their company me too they're looking forward to seeing you we're we're looking for i hope so we are very excited yeah a little different this year we're gonna have caterers come in they're gonna cater cater me cater we're gonna make them uncomfortable
51:07 make who would go the caterers the caterers yeah all right do you know though but we will by the end of the evening by uncomfortable i mean like they're gonna have to take farm tours and you know probably like hang out with people as opposed to sitting there and just wait staffing and they're going to be like this is weird we're supposed to be like yeah but it's okay and i'm going to make them i remember you did that last year to the the party bus driver guy yeah yeah yeah but by the end of the night he was like hanging out on the back porch by the fire and exactly chilling taking the farm tour there you go exactly that's that's the goal here.
51:54 Yeah, it was like super late and like, yeah, let me take you. I don't know you but I'm going to take you in this dark path down to this barn that you've never been to before in the dark and I promise I'm going to. murder you yeah yeah and he had a great time he was like this is awesome great it's a fun time hey you know you'll enjoy it or else or else you won't I guess I don't know like it's it's it's cool we we do this so it'll be fun we're gonna have a good time yeah hopefully we have a we have a machine coming too so we can all make ridiculous noises.
52:36 Oh, yeah? Yeah. Food and a bartender to make drinks. They got water? I think we have water, yeah. Okay. We'll make sure to save some. Maybe I'll have one of those girl beers. They got girl beers? My wife will have girl beers, yeah. All right. Yep. Might have one of those with her. Yeah. You could try a Manhattan, too. A little lime in the top. and you could try a manhattan or a mai tai nah nah too much for me i didn't say you had to drink a whole one you could try one though a little sippy sip we'll see we'll see how it goes yeah but a little sippy sip turns into a like and then you know like before you know it i'm dancing topless on the table well you're like how do you turn that guy off?
53:33 And you don't. That's it. I know how. Too late. I know how. I know how. How was that? No. I don't even want to know. I don't even want to know. Put him in the Iron Maiden. Yeah, right? Hmm. No. Anyway, other news? I don't know. I did order I know I talked about it some of that red light therapy stuff I did decide on a device I ordered one they were on Black Friday early Black Friday sale nice I'll let everybody know whether it works or not whether it's bogus I got 60 days to try it takes 61 days to get a response yeah right no the guy's actually been real responsive he's got a he's got a little Facebook group I know you don't like Facebook but he's very responsive to people's questions and all.
54:32 Very helpful. Well, cool. I hope it provides a benefit for you. I really do. Yeah, dude. I'm hoping it works. Yeah. For multiple things. Mm-hmm. I'll be interested. If I get it before we leave, I'll bring it up there. You can try it. It's good for joint pain and stuff, too. You can bring your gear, right? My gear? Your gear. yeah i was going to it's a little bit of a pain but i'll do it for you we could set up in the dining room or something maybe get a bunch of us on we'll see all right see if anyone can't will that's gonna be the hard part yeah we'll pressure them peer pressure hmm well you get an open bar socially lubricate them first you've been properly lubricated come Come on over here.
55:26 Have a seat. Put these on. Yeah. No, lean in close to it. That's right. There you go. What are we doing? Bring my extra, my camera. We could do extra camera angles and all that stuff. Yeah. That's what I was thinking. Yeah. It'd be fun. It'd be fun for a change. It would. Yeah. Yeah. Be something different. Mm-hmm. Different could be good. Maybe. I think. We'll see. Sometimes. Sometimes different is bad. Sometimes. Sometimes it's bad. Sometimes different can be bad. Yes. Mm. Sometimes change is undesirable.
56:07 I'm not really a change kind of guy. Yeah, I've noticed. That's why I've got 30 of the same shirt. Yeah. I got a bunch of questions about your little wall of Nintendo back there. like what like what kind of question like do they all work do you play them they should most of them i would think yeah yeah that's what i said but then i was like i don't really know like you want me to bring a nintendo you can play like contra no but okay if you want to i have no desire but you know hey i'm i'm good with it if you want to bring other people might be like oh yeah heck yeah this is awesome i don't know do i have a favorite one no not really do i play them anymore No not really How long has it been since you played one A few years.
57:10 Just a few years? Yeah. Like three or ten? Five. Five. That's a good compromise. Yeah. Yeah. I wonder how much that collection's worth. I don't know. Definitely at least $25. $27 if you get the right GameStop employee. They give me like $10 in store credit. $10. Probably, yeah. That's how that works.
57:51 It's a pretty impressive collection there, though. I mean, honestly. It was fun. The hunt was fun. And you don't look for them anymore? They're too expensive. There's none really to speak of out there. I enjoyed going to yard sales and flea markets and stuff. People weren't interested in them. Yeah. And they were affordable. And now everybody's, you know, like the prices went up and there's just a lot of resellers. They just, you know, they're just in it just to flip them. the collector market kind of made it ridiculous. Well, I mean, that could be good for you.
58:33 Yeah, eventually, maybe. Maybe. It's your retirement package right there. Yeah, I could sell them just by a car. Yeah. Got a car up in one, maybe. Or a tractor. Or a van. Or a tractor would be better. And then you could be living in a van. By the river? Well, you need a river, so. Wiki Watchy. My dad's a van guy. He's always had a van. Vans are pretty cool. They're utilitarian. Unless you need to go taller than the van. That's the whole problem with vans. You get a high top van. You could, or you could just have a truck, and then there is no top.
59:17 Go as tall as you want. Vans are nice for keeping your stuff dry and not wet. This is true. They are. They are good for that. And you can also make a pretty cool little sleeper van, too. Yeah, some of them are pretty nice. Yeah, yeah. Hidden panels and solar and all the good stuff. Little mini split for your van. I've seen some done pretty nicely. I like some of those overland campers, too. Have you seen those things? Burly little. They get pricey. Oh, yeah, very pricey. Yeah. Like more than I paid for my house pricey. Yeah. Yeah, but I enjoy some of that stuff. I've watched guys take old ambulances and turn them into that.
1:00:00 It's actually a pretty killer platform for it because they're designed for a good amount of weight. The only thing about vans is they can be more difficult to work on. Oh, yeah? The engine compartment is a little more cramped, typically. Yeah, yeah. i remember we had a an old econo line and part of the engine compartment was in the van so yeah well the old ones used to have like the doghouse that came off inside there so that made things a little easier yeah i guess but you're still inside the vehicle working on a motor which is i don't know it's weird but i guess you couldn't really like put snap buckles on the damn thing and make it a cab over could you wouldn't really work yeah i know like some of them four diesel vans like there's places that just don't don't won't work on them because like some of the uh things to fix the four diesels you gotta remove like the body off of the frame oh geez and with a van that's a little more difficult than than like a pickup cab yeah but even still why why this is like my buddy with the bmw and he had to do something like drop his transmission or something to change his oil you know what i mean it's like who comes up with this stuff literally who comes up with this what is the point of that why why would you make something that's so difficult to work on it you know part of the engineering process should be like can we
1:01:37 not make this easy for people to work on? Like these mundane, normal tasks that have to be completed every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, maybe we should be able to get to those without having to remove compartments and fairings and frickin' this and that and the other thing. I don't know. You would think I would think I just thought I thunk I did it well back in the day you could have like a model a and you know you have like four piece wrench set you can fix anything on the thing yeah or an old international you could literally jump in the engine compartment and work on it hmm now it's just cramped full of emissions crap that you can't fit in yeah or see the engine anymore yeah and plastic fairings everywhere for mileage and all the other stupidity that goes on yeah making life fun it's more fun this way oh so remember i was telling you about my trigger finger yeah yeah i went to the doctor about that they talked me into getting a cortisone injection which you know like i'm not really into pharmaceuticals at all, but it actually feels better.
1:02:50 Oh, yeah. I mean, it ain't perfect. Don't get me wrong, but I mean, it's much better. Oh, much better is better. I mean, you know. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I mean, I could barely even move the thing. Yeah, I'm not big on pharmaceutical intervention myself, but there are times when Western medicine is probably a good idea. Maybe. We'll find out. I mean, I don't know. You know, if you want to be frank about it, I don't know what they injected me with. I didn't take it out of the bottle. It was already loaded up when they came in. Silly juice. Mmm. Yeah.
1:03:31 I'm sure it'll be fine. It's going to slowly leach into your body and make you silly. Don't freak me out. You're just going to start walking silly and talking silly and just being silly. It's going to be silly. Very silly. It's probably those 5G antennas, and they're going to flip the switch. The nanobots. The nanobots are going to come here, right? Yeah, they're going to control your brain. Mm-hmm. And they're just like little antennas for the slaughterbots to come get me, right? That's exactly it. Your genetic coding has been uploaded to the cloud. I'm sure. They probably took that syringe and put me in the database. Speaking of the database, I saw, I think it was in Washington State.
1:04:14 somebody sued to get access to the flock cameras. Yeah. They're like, well, we're paying for it with tax money. It should be open to, you know, a FOIA request. So instead of granting them access to it, they said, oh, well, we're going to just shut it down. Because that would be an invasion of privacy if we put that information out there. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Isn't that kind of crazy? It is crazy. what's sure they i'm sure they shut it down too right yeah what's crazy to me is is honestly right off the bat this is they can't do this right the only reason they're doing this or they they get away with this is because it's a private company and then they just go and get the data from a private company for sale or whatever and that circumvents our right to privacy which it shouldn't oh oh oh oh oh good morning yes she is oh good morning oh good morning you know it was coming okay go get your mom all right it makes it worth it right it does it does that's a very very wonderful thing I love that part of my morning puppy time puppies make me happy I like puppies who doesn't like puppies
1:05:46 I mean honestly how could you not maybe I could take a ride out there and see how the whole puppy thing is going while we're up there it's not that far no it's not, it's a half hour yeah it's closer than Charlotte it is so yeah, let's do it be like where's my puppy? You promised me a puppy. I want my puppy. Puppies. Well, you're supposed to be with your mom. She's trying to tell you, come on, Dad, it's time to get off this thing. Go get your mom.
1:06:33 She'll be back. She always can. She's going to be back. I don't know what's going on, but something went on. She'll be back. Anyway, it's that time anyway. You think? Yeah. All right. You got sweet potatoes to harvest. I do, actually. Hopefully there's some. We didn really we didn have rain and I wasn as good about watering as I should have been So we see what our harvest looks like I not very hopeful but i can see some pictures post them up and see them sticking out of the ground would love to see oh we will we will good bad or indifferent i will put them up there you go yeah hopefully it's not a complete one last thing before we go i forgot to tell you So like we went over the whole Spider-Man wallet thing Like a couple episodes ago I got a new wallet Uh huh And I didn't even have to pick it It just showed up What do you mean?
1:07:34 Just like it does every time Here you go Here's a wallet Oh the wife Yeah The wife wallet occurred again Isn't It did Are you happy with your wallet? Yeah it's nice Alright There you go yep this one's brown last one was black brown i like brown mine's brown throw her somewhere i don't know where it is it's leather i don't think the other one was real leather i like leather wall it's kind of disintegrating she's like i'm tired of this thing disintegrating all over my purse yeah i make her care i like leather wallets because they form to you over time.
1:08:16 That's the thing that I really like about them. So the corners are round off. This one smells real leathery. That's a good thing too. Leather is a good smell. Carhartt. There you go. Not super fancy, but it's nice enough. Big fan. Big fan. Yeah. I know. That's my gig. I like my Carhartt shirts. I just want cotton. everyone else wants to throw all this stupid plastic crap in your clothing it's like why not just cotton i just cotton cotton's good that's why i buy these they're cotton they're hard to find 100 cotton shirts it can be yeah yeah yeah baron actually has some right now uh 13 bucks each nice they're kind of like Carhartt but they're like a pair Carhartts are a little heavy for me that's why I don't really like them that much I like the heavy for up there it's probably fine yeah I like the heavy I like it feels good feels substantial don't get me wrong I have my light shirts too but these feel substantial like if I catch them on blackberry bush or something like that I'm probably going to be okay whereas my light clothing catches like that it's just going to rip I give up I'm too light too thin got got to be able to roll with the punches there so we'll do it that way
