No Guests Just Chaos | Space Tomatoes S3-EP16
Key Takeaways
- Havok and LX skip the guest routine for this episode to deliver a completely unscripted, host-only conversation about the practical and sometimes chaotic reality of running Space Tomatoes.
- The hosts discuss the behind-the-scenes workflow, including the challenges of cold calling experts for interviews and feeling like used car salesmen.
- Havok shares his setup of a local AI agent on home hardware that assists with clipping, social media scheduling, and drafting show notes while maintaining strict approval gates.
- The episode covers full transparency regarding AI usage on the show, clarifying that AI helps with thumbnail creation, publishing, and clip drafting, but never for video editing or generating the core conversations.
- The conversation drifts into a hilarious mix of tangents covering social media confusion on Instagram and TikTok, smart appliances, digital price tags, RAM price spikes, and LX's new eGym habit.
Havok and LX go full host-only chaos no guests, no script, just two homesteaders talking about the weird, practical, and mildly unhinged side of running a podcast in 2026. From cold calling experts (and feeling like a used car salesman with nothing to sell) to building a local AI agent that drafts clips, schedules posts, and writes show notes while Havok still hand edits every video, they cover the real workflow behind Space Tomatoes. They also dive into Instagram and TikTok confusion, why smart fridges and digital price tags are a hard no, the RAM price spike from AI data centers, LX’s new eGym habit, cats that still hunt for sport, and the eternal debate on cutting filler words. Plus the reverse OnlyFans idea, tar and feathering as public shaming, and why neither of them is selling out to subscriptions anytime soon. This is the unscripted, zero filter version of the show, tangents, farm talk, and real talk about tools that actually help without replacing the humans.

0:00 You don't want to control the radio in the party bus. Like that's the guy that the driver tries to hand the control to. And everybody's like, no. Don't give it to Pinch, please. I mean, I'm just, you know, this is all hypothetical. I love you, Pinch, but your music taste is eclectic. I wasn't going to throw any names out there. I was just, I was speaking in a, you know. Oh, we all know. Hypothetical terms. There is a group of 10 of us and we all know exactly who that was. all right everybody welcome back to another episode of the space tomatoes podcast with havoc and lx one of those people is me it is i'm i'm i'm havoc look it says so right here havoc i can't point on his screen but if you look over there it says lx right there there it is that's havoc lx that's the guy over there hi everybody welcome back all that stuff glad to And all the stuff and the things.
1:27 We have a very special guest today. Us. Do we? Yeah. Us. We actually haven't done one of these in a while. This is kind of, I like it. It's been a while. We should. We'll see how it goes. Let's save your judgment till we're done and we can make that assessment. Oh yeah? Yeah. I never know how it goes. We might just suck up the joint. What's that? We might just suck up the joint. Who knows? Might. Might. But, you know, I mean, at the end of the day, hey, here we are. We're talking about stuff. Nobody, you know, it is what it is. You know, people seem to enjoy them. We still get a lot of views on our older stuff with just two of us.
2:08 I've actually been pushing clips recently for some of our older episodes, including the raw milk stuff. And I'm trying really hard to get someone on here that is, you know, more of an expert in that field. uh it's like cold calling for free access they don't want any they're not going up against big milk right no there's the people that actually are doing that already right like the weston a price foundation would love to get someone on there but you know finding someone and getting in touch and trying to go through all that rigmarole this whole cold calling basically that whole pitch process is kind of, it feels very used car salesy, you know, only I don't even have a car to sell you.
2:58 I'm just like, want some of your time. No, I don't need an extended warranty. Don't call me again. One of them deals. I imagine it'd go a little different if I had like some ducats to give out, like, you know, Hey, here's some ducats, but, uh, yeah, we're not, we're not there. We're not there. Yeah. who knows maybe 20 years from now we might be like two senile old people you know they haven't hit you up yet to like sell their uh floor mats or i don't know those stupid little headphone things that everybody's selling like every time i watch something on youtube it's like uh hey before we start here we can you know look at our little earbud things like what what does that have to do with anything yeah no sponsors so far although that might be something i'll look into doing we'll see i don't know hey man anything can help pay the bills you know honestly i'm not you know like it would just be nice if the bills were paid well you know what you could i have an idea are you familiar with the goonies movie yeah i mean it's been a long time since i've seen it so so do you remember when uh chunk had to do the truffle shuffle to get him to open the gate my wife loves that you could probably do like a pay-per-view thing like you know just go do like a live stream and have people pay to do that truffle shuffle yeah she loves it so I'm just making suggestions
4:28 to pay the bills people are going to pay us for the opportunity to do the truffle shuffle no no no they're not going to pay us they're going to pay you I didn't volunteer I'm just volunteering you okay and so they're going to do the truffle shuffle and pay me for the opportunity to do it. No, you're going to do it and they're going to pay you. So they pay me and then I do the, yeah, that's right. Now you got it. That's how it works. This doesn't sound as fun. Oh, okay. It sounds an idea. Just throwing it out there. To be honest with you, I don't think anyone wants to see that. Just an idea. I don want to see that I would pay me not to do that Hey that an idea too I mean that might be the case You might only have to do it once Right We start a reverse OnlyFans pay me and I put my clothes back on There you go.
5:22 I saw some young girl, she's had some kind of apparatus where she's sitting in a chair, and every time people donate, it spins her around. It's mental, almost like a roller coaster ride. She just, like, it's got an arm, and it moves her over, and it spins her around, like, and then puts it back. And, like, every time she got back, it just, I mean, every time that thing goes, I mean, she's getting something. I don't know what it costs, but. That's something worth feeding the quarters in the slot for. Yeah, it's, like, kind of like one of the dunking booths, I guess. Same kind of principle. Get enough people piling on, maybe get her to toss her cookies.
6:03 Yeah, my wife would not like that ride at all. She's not good at that motion sickness though. Yeah, no, I, I think that would be a double plus unfun for me. Hmm. I mean, I'd give it a whirl. I'd give it, you know, I mean for a little bit, but I don't think I would put my, my, I don't think I would allow other people to feed the machine that made it spin. It's like, no, I went off the ride now. Cha-ching, cha-ching, cha-ching. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. Sounds like fun to me. yeah yeah so we started the uh instagram thing i had some assistance in setting it up so we're doing that now yeah yeah well i guess we got like 20 followers already and coming up on 10 000 views which isn't bad for like two weeks on the platform nice yeah although i don't know what that means on instagram i know nothing about instagram oh It's a very odd thing too, because it's like, it doesn't seem like anyone, like there's no conversation or talking.
7:09 It's just everyone posts like this clip of something. It's like, here's a clip. Yeah. I know, I know less than nothing of Instagram. I have never had it on my device, nor have I ever had TikTok on my device. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Someone, uh, George fonts actually, uh, told me that I should, we should have a TikTok profile. And I'm like, he's like, it's great for, for just getting your name out there. You know, I guess maybe. So maybe I'll look into doing that. I don't know. I mean, if you ever want to do like the, uh, two cans with a string thing, I mean, I'm all down for that. Yeah. That's good social media, right?
7:49 I need a lot of string. i don't know where do you find that much string and will it work if there's knots in it i don't think it will i think that i don't think that'll affect it too much no i think i think it will i think it'll just like all the sound will go out the knot we should test it out they i don't think they make string like that long they don't make string like they used to hello i would like to order 500 miles of string we do smoke signals i can get a little fire going in the backyard not to mention what we're i mean we're just gonna put a spool on the on a in the truck or something and like drive down someone's gonna say they're gonna be like you can't you can't do this it's free i'm not driving anywhere i'm not gonna leave the house i mean crazy no i mean we got to get the string down there Hmm.
8:43 I'm just saying. Yeah. We could do an airplane or something, hire someone that flies a Cessna, but I don't know if they actually have a 500 mile range. And so we probably have to tie it together again. But if we could do that, I still think people would probably be pretty pissed off with the string draped over their yard and their car. They'll get over it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Have you, have you been up in one of those little Cessnas? Yeah. Do you like flying in those little planes? I don't like flying at all. Oh, okay. I'm absolutely terrified of it. I hate it. Really? Yeah. Even the big ones? Yep. Hmm. And that said, I have almost a million miles on one airline. I thought it was fun.
9:24 I mean, I have little experience flying. I've been in a Cessna one time, and I've been on a commercial aircraft twice. So, it's a, yeah. I mean, no, I don't like it at all. it's like uh being the passenger in a vehicle where you can only see out the side window that's it you can't see anywhere else you can't see behind you can't see in front um the driver is closed off in a box you you don't know what who what you know what's going on over there and they're the only we can't see him drinking and getting down with the right right they're the only ones they're the only ones that can see like the road you know ahead it's sky I get it but you know they're they see that and and you just like kind of look out this side window going damn we're really really really far up in the sky right now kind of like sitting on the back of your parents station wagon no I could still see out the front window I could see the driver in the station wagon with a barrier there that you can see out of How about that I never been in a station wagon that had a hard physical barrier that you couldn see through I'm building a mental image.
10:34 Now there's one there. Limo and kidnapping services. Yeah, like a limousine, right? Have you ever been in a limousine? There's like a barrier there, right? You can put it up or take it down. So if you want to see the driver, you can pull it down and you put it up and it's just tented glass. I mean, you can't see through it, but they can't see. I've never been in a limousine. I mean, I've been in like a party bus. That's close. Yes, you have. I've been. Yeah. Yeah. That's a limousine. Yeah. It's a limo van, a van, van limo. I wonder how other people deal with that when they're like in a party bus with like, I don't know, like 10 to 15 of their closest friends.
11:16 And like the one that, you know, like you don't want to control the radio in the party bus. Like that's the guy that the driver tries to hand the control to. And everybody's like, no. Don't give it to Pinch, please. I mean, I'm just, you know, this is all hypothetical. I love you, Pinch, but your music taste is eclectic. I wasn't going to throw any names out there. I was just, I was speaking in a, you know, hypothetical terms. There is a group of 10 of us and we all know exactly who that was. it's, it's very, I mean, it can, it's very entertaining. Let's, let's put it that way. I don't know why that exists.
11:57 I don't know how he finds it. I really don't. I think it's pretty cool, but I don't know how he finds these things. Or do they find him? I mean, honestly. Is it like one of those things, if you go searching for it for long enough, it just starts finding you or. I never knew there was that many songs about like boats and vikings and things like death death metal songs about vikings and boats very odd death metal songs about vikings and boats but more importantly about cuss words oh yeah that's for no real good reason other than just because which which i mean you know hey okay let's do it but i don't yeah yeah yeah it was fun to karaoke it's hilarious yeah he belted him out man yes he did yeah no he did a great job he did he did i was a little more shy than i thought i would be i don't know why me too me too but not as shy as uh yukon and naz did they even do one i think they well they just went outside like nope we're out yeah i mean that's that's their choice i suppose it is it is it is so you know one of the cool things uh so you know
13:32 we're hosted off fountain and uh you know like instagram is brand new to me i don't know what that i don't even know what i'm doing there i i just i don't get it i guess just people just go on there and watch reels is what it is and you just scroll through short reel after short reel after short reel i think i i don't know right i'm not positive someone knows like drop a thing in the comments and do you know let us like tell me about this thing i don't know does instagram have its own like nomenclature like uh like its own little language like you go on twitter x you send a tweet do you send a whatever it is on instagram or is it just you post something up there it's it's yeah it's posts and reels i think and posts are just like images or something and reels are the clips most of it facebook has reels too right i don't know you say you don't know i don't know you probably I got some shadow Facebook account and you're on there.
14:34 Nope. All right. So how do you look at all the crap on marketplace that like is garbage and you don't need? I don't. Oh, okay. The same way I look at Craigslist. I don't. I used to love Craigslist. I've got a lot of crap on there. I got a friend that keeps sending me the, or sending me these, uh, well, not keeps. He's trying to get me to join this thing called Whatnot. And apparently it's like an auction thing for coins and I don't know what else. I mean, maybe it's a lot more broad than just coins and, you know, precious metals and stuff. But it's a weird, like you bid on stuff or something.
15:19 I don't know. Are they like live auctions or more like eBay kind of things? Well, it's eBay kind of a thing. But it's, you know, the same thing. It's a live auction, but it's digital. live. It's not like you go in person. Nice No thanks I got enough The cool so Fountain Fountain is our hosting provider right And like one of the hardest things, at least for me, is, you know, getting these clips and putting them out on social media and being kind of consistent about that. And, you know, I've done a little bit of, you know, beta work with them and stuff like that.
16:00 And I have, I have an open claw agent, an AI agent that I have, and I run my own local model at home. Okay. On a piece of hardware. What's that mean? I have AI in a box at my house and I have a console that allows me to instruct it to do tasks and go and do things without me really, you know, having to, you know, be in the. with approval gates right so you can't actually complete the action until i go review it etc but it goes and takes our episodes and looks for for good clip clips and then formats the the video so that it fits in the clip and looks nice and you know looks for the you know words and everything to align and yada yada and then it goes up and it publishes these drafts to fountain and then i just go in and I look at this clip and I go, yeah, okay, that one's good. And then I approve it.
17:02 And then I go back and tell it, okay, schedule it. And I made some rules. Like, I don't want you to post outside of, you know, only from 9am to 9pm. And I want like at least 137 minutes. Why? I just, I just put something that wasn't like going to land on an hour, you know, every two hours it's doing this thing. You know what I mean? So 137 minutes is just kind of a random number I threw in there, but it just means like, don't like overdo it and don't be stupid about it. And, you know, per day per platform. Right. And so what it does now is every morning it goes out and it looks at news and then it looks at social media trends minus things like, you know, viral clips and, you know, stuff like pranks and, you know, that kind of, you know, stuff that's not, you know, interesting to what we do or to me really in general.
17:59 So it does this, it creates these clips and puts them up there. I review them and the drafts and the ones that I approve, then I go tell it, you know, okay, go ahead and schedule those. Right. And so it goes ahead and schedules those. And now that's keeping an active flow of clips into, you know, you know, X YouTube shorts and Instagram currently and putting it out there. there. And it's actually, you know, increased visibility, I guess, uh, which is pretty cool. I think, and I don't have to like sit on social media and push clips and, and do all the stuff myself. You know, I think, you know, it's interesting because I've gotten some questions from other podcasters on pod match. Right. And they, you know, asked me about how I'm using AI.
18:52 And so, you know, hey, full transparency, we do use AI, right? I'm not a Photoshop whiz. I had to self-learn editing. So I'm not a Photoshop whiz. So we use AI to create the thumbnail image, okay? That's one. The other thing is social media clips, like I just told you, as well as publishing our episode, right? That just simply means taking the file and the thumbnail and pushing it up to fountain.fm, scheduling it and setting the season number and the episode number and making sure the transcript is there and all that good stuff. Right. And then, you know, setting it as a scheduled, you know, published episode. Um, and then I use it as well to go through the transcript, right? Because we do these hour and a half long shows. It's a lot to read through and try and pick out the pertinent pieces.
19:50 And I use it to help me frame up titles and descriptions, which I then go through, reword, change the verbiage, make edits wherever I need to, et cetera, and then get to something that I think is more human and a little better. But we do not use AI to edit our videos. we we i don't i use adobe premiere pro and i use isotope rx 12 now was rx 11 for the audio editing right um but we we don't you know none of the content of our stuff is ai driven right so you sure i'm not ai i maybe i don't know it could be a machine but uh so i think it's you know in this day and age is kind of important to be a little transparent about that.
20:46 But I will tell you this, having that agent be able to create clear uh, based on, you know, trending stuff, uh, and schedule it out on social media, uh, and just, you know, really that kind of stuff, I think is really a useful way to do this, especially look, you know, I mean, I live on a farm. Uh, so we, we have that to manage. I have a day job, so I work, you know, all day and then we do this and editing is not like, it's the biggest time-consuming portion of this bar none you know and so it's a it's pretty interesting stuff at some point it'd be cool to do like a little you know screen share dog and pony show or something and kind of show some of that maybe maybe i could do something like that i don't know if anyone would actually care if you if you'd like to see something like that let me know if you if you do just let me know just put it in a comment somewhere anywhere like just a little comment hey in your house then it's in a box you said yeah hmm yeah what happens when it gets like tired of being told what to do when it like hacks your brakes on your car or like makes your refrigerator like slam the door and shut you in there and kill you it can't because i don't have any of that stuff no i'm not oh your refrigerator's not like wi-fi or bluetooth or something i mean
22:19 it's got it but i've never actually activated anything with it same with same with our oven i'm like why what the why would i why do i need an app for my oven and a wi-fi or bluetooth connection to my freaking oven yeah we were like looking at refrigerators and it was hard to even find one without it oh i know and it's like i don't need why is this what is this for what exactly is this for i don't i don't like that stuff i i don't want any of it at all i prefer none yeah you hardly get a choice anymore what if it hacks your thermostat turns it up to like 140 while you're sleeping well then uh i will uh unplug it physically but no it doesn't have connection to all that stuff right it's it's very limited in what can connect to it and what it can connect to okay which is which is by design and it's good it's good it also helps uh helps with you know uh uh writing up uh guest bios and uh a blog post for the episodes that we release have blog posts now.
23:34 Blogs. Blog, blog, blog. Like written word. Nice. Yeah. With authoritative links and links to episodes that are in the same, you know, theme. And, you know, just, I think it's cool stuff. It's pretty cool. Yeah. I mess around with the AI thing until it says, you know, you need to pay for the one now because you use it too much or you've used it too much or whatever. Yeah, well, see, that's the good thing about this one is it doesn't have any of that. We could keep it running 24, 7, 3, 6, 24, 7, 3, 65. It would just hum along doing whatever you ask it to. Okay. Let me just go ahead and get on that then.
24:15 Can you like get to like analyze stocks and stuff and tell you what to buy so you can get rich? You could. Yeah. I don't know if you'll get rich, but you know, some people have made some monies. Others have lost a lot of money doing that. Okay. So it's not that good. It's not like the all seeing Oracle then. I'm kind of, uh, I mean, you know, there it's used for sure. And it's used to great effect in those areas, but I, I'm also like, like, I'm, I don't want this thing having access to my personal stuff. Right. I don't want it. I don't want finances involved in it in any way, shape or form. And that I don't, you know, I don't, even though it's my own hosted model, it's not on someone else's, you know, server and someone else's data center. I still am like, yeah, no, because you hear the stories of the things like taking ideas, you know, from previously and next thing you know, like, you know, oh, this would be a cool thing to have and blah, blah, blah. And you're, you know, talking about it. And the next thing you know, like the thing shows up at your door. It's like, oh yeah, I ordered that for you. I'm like, well, what the, no, I don't want that.
25:22 no thank you just trying to be helpful i get it but no please don't to my money apparently amazon i saw like they i mean you know they're keeping track of what you buy but apparently they keep a little dossier on people now like you can kind of see some of it at least what they want you to see yeah yeah well that's no surprise i mean you know the fact is all the social media companies, you know, and the, the big, you know, providers, Google's a big one, right? The fact is is they been doing psychological and behavioral pro profiling on people for decades you know what I mean It not a new thing Your grocery store does this too When you buy what times of year what you buy how much of it, how often, you know, heat map of where you go in the store, you know, maybe place some different product placement over in these areas.
26:20 Pick them into buying some ultra processed bullshit. You know? What do you think of those, uh, digital price tags? Have you, I'm sure you've seen them out there. Yeah. I, so, you know, two, two separate thoughts on those, right? Number one, digital price tags. Sure. Why not? Why, why do you need to go around replacing fricking physical stickers all the time? No issue. Digital price tag with a camera that knows the, the person walking up to it and adjust the price based on, you know, their whatever. Yeah. fuck right off absolutely fuck right off i mean my thing like how do you know that like you pick something up for nine bucks or whatever and you get up to the register it ain't going to be thirteen dollars i mean how do you you got to take a picture it doesn't work like the digital the the benefit there is they can change the price on the fly yeah and it'll match at the register it's all it's all connected right yeah but how do you know they're not going to try like the surge pricing or or whatever nonsense they will without question it's just like coming into you know black friday and you know the tv was you know you know 6.99 in you know august and then you know in october they raised it to 7.99 and then you get to descend you know uh you know november black friday comes around and they drop it oh now 6.99 it was 16.99 you just raised the price artificially for a month so you could claim you're offering a discount and everyone goes
27:55 and we've seen this repeatedly it's just commonplace i've experienced this recently with i need to get my wife a new ipad hers is kind of starting to have performance and storage issues but i didn't know apple they checked their prices up on stuff it must have been a few months ago like significantly well everyone in the industry is and and the reason for this is the ai data centers they've basically bought up all the ram which you know the ipads and the phones they operate on ram ram and you know like the same type of you know stuff that goes into gpus or goes into computers etc uh not actual discs right and uh because that would be stupid slow and just be like, but, uh, but the problem is they bought all this stuff up and the manufacturers just went, well, we have to put all our effort into producing GPU memory. And so now the, everything memory wise is just ridiculous. It's like, you know, three X the cost that it used to be. I saw that in the, uh, those micro SD cards I was looking to buy as well. They, uh, I don't, I mean, I don't know that that, like, it's, it's hard to figure out that what that has to do with AI.
29:20 Cause I mean, I'm sure they're not using micro SD cards, but. It's not, it's the, but it's the same basic premise, right? It's, it's solid state type memory. It's a chip as opposed to a magnetic disc that you're writing data to. Uh, same basic premise, right? So that's why. and then of course we've got you know shipping lane disruptions in parts of the world where all this stuff comes from um probably shipping costs too with the price of fuel and everything yeah i'm glad i don't have a diesel and the insurance riders too yeah yeah so kind of crazy crazy stuff man did i tell you i recently started uh working out i've been doing it for about like I don't know, three weeks.
30:12 Really? Are you all swole now? No. No. Dude, there's some gigantic guys in there. I feel like less than capable, I guess. We're doing the, it's an electronic thing. Probably stealing data on me doing that too. But it like kind of adjusts to you and everything. It's nice. Doing it with the wife. We're enjoying it. I think, what's that platform called again? e-gym e-gym very unique like wow a lot of thought went into that one yeah we'll do what is it it's a gym well and it's got electronics e-gym but they probably paid some marketing firm like you know hundreds of thousands of dollars to come up with that.
31:03 I'm at least millions. E-gym really, that's the best you could come up with there. Yeah no but I mean the platform actually pretty cool I did some looking into it you know when you sent me that info and I thought you know that pretty cool because it profiles you your current strength you know your your fitness level to an extent right As much as it can and then, you know, targets that. And as that becomes easier for you, it senses that supposedly and adjusts and increases and does all the cool stuff for you, which is cool. It's a good way to get back into working out without injuring yourself.
31:45 So today we'd been doing that, I don't know, three, I think this is like week four, but we decided to add a little bit of cardio into it at the end, which dude, I might. my endurance is about zero i did five minutes on this uh it wasn't an elliptical thing it was like some kind of um it's like a stair machine but it wasn't a stair machine it did i forget what the name of the thing is but did that for about five minutes man i was dying i was like yeah that's enough for me yeah i when i was younger i used to go to this this gym and they had the stairmaster things right uh and you know i would do those and yeah it was it was a good workout uh and then they brought in this new piece of equipment which is like it's like an escalator but it's just steps and so you're physically standing and going up steps and it just keeps going along like a treadmill but it's steps right right yeah they have those there too i didn't do that one dude that thing kicked my butt compared to the scare master, which is all, you know, easy on your joints and everything.
32:54 That thing kicks your butt, it kicks your butt, kick, but, but, but kicked. I'm probably going to feel it tomorrow. I mean, I've been doing pretty good. Like, like the first time we did it, holy cow. So I made the mistake since it's, it's electronic, right? They set you up like they do a strength measurement. Like they, you do three reps, like as much as you can on each machine. um i like i guess i went out there like trying to prove something so like i i really gave it my all holy crap man that that sets the tone for the whole thing because you know they base it on a percentage of that i'm like man maybe i should have went a little bit easier on that thing the idea is not to go full out but where you're comfortable and it'll get you to the to the full out part yeah i think the idea is yeah it's it's kind of like going and working out for your first time ever with someone who's like a total gym rat you know right big lunk and they they're like yeah come on push through it push through it and then you you get home like the next day you can't even move it was pretty sore like it wasn't the next day it was like two or three days later and yeah i was like oh now this is not fun but i got over it pretty quick it was all right that lactic acid builds up. I've, I've done it before to the point where I can't, I like, I, I have to physically push my arms, tighten them out. And it fricking hurts just because, you know, my triceps are so like locked up from what I did. They're like, no, no, you don't get to use your arms now
34:29 because you were mean to us. Nice. Or a big leg day. And like, you go walk out to your car and you're like you step off a curb and almost eat it because your legs just go gumby on you i did the first time i like i because the last machine you do is the leg press and i got down off of that holy crap it felt like i'm getting off like a boat ever being on a boat all day like all rubber legs stuff yeah rubber legs man yeah it's it's one of those things and it's just like you know you got a good leg workout when that happened but boy day two is gonna suck yeah because that's i mean like when things start locking up from that lactic acid that's why after working out it's so important to do like you know walking and and just you know general stretching and stuff right yeah yeah good stuff good stuff that sounds like pretty cool thing so How's a kitty girl doing?
35:31 She's doing good. Yeah? She hasn't quite, she doesn't want to come in the house yet, but. Yeah. There's mean cats in there. She's still killing lizards and, you know, you could feed her a hundred cans a day and she's still going to be a murderer. That's what they do. Yeah. That's what she does for sure. Like all these people that say humans are the only animals that head for sport. You have never owned a house cat, have you? Never once in your life. Because I guarantee you I have watched more than my fair share of tortured mice, field mice, even rabbits. Just like they bring them back and set them down and the thing starts to try and run off.
36:12 And they just let it go for a little while, a little bit longer. And then drop it again. Wait for it to move again I waiting for her to bring us a uh a rodent of some sort The uh the neighbor uh decided to tear down his wood fence and replace it with the the vinyl fence, which is nice, but he had a bunch of like wood piled up against it. And there was a bunch of vines growing on the wood fence. And I think something got displaced because I was in the chicken coop the other day. Uh, I noticed the, uh, the straw nesting blocks just looked a little weird. There was like something in it.
36:54 I don't even know what it was, but I reached in to grab it out and I had a, I think it was a smaller rat, but it jumped out and scared the crap out of me. I probably screamed like a little girl. People on the other side of the fence were like, man, what's going on over there? I'm waiting for her to catch that thing and bring it back. You could put her in with chickens to get that to happen. Yeah. I don't know how the chickens would like that. ours ours don't care yeah they're skittish they're scared of everything that's why they call them chickens yeah yeah ours ours don't care they're like oh yeah cat whatever the cat's like okay you're cool just stay over there it's and the turkeys terrify the cats which makes sense i mean it's a very large bird you know yeah no i mean when the chickens come out in the yard i mean And she doesn't hunt them.
37:54 But we did have some kind of buzzard thing land in the yard one day. I don't know what it was doing. But she was stalking up. Like, what are you going to do? That thing is 25 pounds and four times your size. And she just thought she was going to go get it. I'm like, this ain't going to end well. So I'm behind her. And I'm making faces at this gigantic bird to scare it out of the yard. And she thought she scared it off, I think. I just, I let her think that. Yeah, that's a good idea. Good job, cat. Good job. Yeah. Until, until it's a bird of prey that lands and the cat starts trying to stalk up on it. Well, those are, there's some kind of bird of prey.
38:35 I mean, they're classified under that. They're carrion birds. They just eat dead stuff. Yeah, but I think they're in the same category, I think. I don't, I don't know. Maybe. Raptors. I don't, I don't know. I don't think they're, they're not raptors, but I think they're class of, I don't know. I know that you can't hunt them. What do they call bird people again? Ornithologists? Is that right? I don't know. Crazy. Cause birds are mean. That's what they are. They can be. They're geese. Geese are mean. Geese. I, I, I had this parrot, you know, like about that big. That thing would bite the crap out of you too. Like I can't even imagine a bird with a beak the size of my hand, like taking a, I mean, I know they don't, you know, eat alive things and kill them, but I wouldn't want to get pit by one.
39:26 Even though little birds are mean. Yeah. Yeah. He'd sit on me, but my wife, holy cow, he would go after her and he took a big chunk out of her neck one time. She was always nice to him. She was never mean to him. She'd always bring him like snacks and stuff. They're weird. He just did not like her. Birds are very strange like that. We had a bird growing up and it was kind of similar. It was kind of a butthead. I mean, those big like macaws and stuff probably take your finger right off if they wanted. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. No question. That thing, I, at least my brain says, yes, they could probably take your entire finger.
40:11 At least a big chunk of flesh off of it. Well, I mean, if you've seen, if you've seen kind of like what they can crack with their, with their beaks, it doesn't, it wouldn't surprise me that one could literally take a finger off. Messing with my light, I think. Oh, it went off in a while ago. You didn't tell me. Yeah, it's okay. All right. The blue went away. Now the blue is back. Maybe AI could put it back. Just fix it. AI. I don't, I don't know. i'm not doing that i'm not doing that make me look better actually got posed a question and remember we had this conversation a long time ago i don't remember i think it was around season one or something and you know there was a post on pod match on the forum about uh filler words like do you guys you know uh remove or or try and reduce the filler words you know and and do all that kind of stuff.
41:13 And it was interesting because it literally was 50, 50, 50% do and 50% don't. And I remember we had this conversation. It's just, these are natural language things, right? It, it, it can be kind of annoying at times if you're like saying like, like all the like, the like time and like, right. But in general, it's natural conversation and what I've found is when we did do that previously. That sounds weird. It sounds weird and it's jumpy. It feels like you're jumping kind of through a natural conversation and doesn't seem to line up right for me.
41:55 So, yeah, no filler words. I've seen a, I've never used the AI speech thing or the, you know, whatever that is. My wife's tried it. And they are artificially adding in like pauses and ums and all that stuff to make it sound more real i guess i don't know it's just it's weird to me it is it is i i have a friend who puts puts together these podcasts just for a very you know a very contained audience well just put it that way and uh yeah it's terrible i i i tried to watch one of them and it's just like i i just can't you can tell exactly right off the bat that's that's ai and why hmm contained audience i'm thinking like what are they in prison not entirely no hey man we could we could set up like maybe we could send our stuff to prisons i mean you know give like a captive audience literally you don't like it too bad yeah i think that would be like cruel and unusual punishment probably right right i think our content probably a little too uh yeah i don't know i i'm not thinking that's our our niche audience there we don't really have a niche which is another thing a lot of people always ask what's your niche and i'm like we don't have one just a niche is talk to interesting people that have interesting things to say that are
43:28 you know, experts in, in some area to come, you know, have a conversation with us and educate us and educate our listeners and talk about whatever the heck we're talking about at that time. I actually really enjoy that part of it because I learn new stuff on every, you know, pretty much every show. Um, and, and it challenges some of the, uh, assumptions and ideas that I have at times, which, which is a good thing. I think, you know, we haven't had a guest that I haven't liked yet. No, neither. Same. No, not one. There've been a few that made me nervous, uh, having them on, uh, but it was absolutely wonderful. Uh, there have been a few where it's like, yeah, okay. Um, but you know, I think in general, everyone's been really, it's been really good.
44:23 it's been really good having guests uh i've really enjoyed it um and and i want to continue doing this i i think that that is just an interesting thing you know um you know reaching out to different people we've got we've got some good ones coming up too uh really cool which i think will be fun yeah including including the dr doug cardell coming back on mr economist nice which will be nice because right about now it'd be good to hear from an economist maybe like an ai expert on or something yeah i'm i'm looking for some i i want to get a little more into the weeds on that though as opposed to type of a story not that i'm opposed to founding founder stories i think they're excellent like the derrick trager episode was wonderful right and and you know i'm all in for that i think that was that was wonderful um but i want to get to like some of the data scientists some of the people do actual you know work on the back end of these things and and you know see if we can't like you know learn more about that i saw a clip a guy who you know i know it's your favorite facebook but you know he makes these little ai he's interacting with ai so he's got it on his phone he's talking to it and he's intentionally trying to you know throw it a curveball but he was asking it uh i want to i want to get my car washed but but it's
45:59 only 100 100 feet away do you think i should you know drive the car over there or just walk and the ai's telling well you know it's 100 feet away it's probably good to get the exercise and go walk over there. Yeah. And then he's like, okay, now I'm here, but I don't have my car. So how do I wash my car? Oh, you're right. Yeah. It's, it's, it's, you know, it's valuable. It really is. It's, it's, it's, uh, you know, it's got its issues. It's, you know, and that's where the use that I have for it is very contained. Right. I also use it to help research potential guests, right?
46:42 Uh cause it can go out and do a deep dive and then give me a starting point Right Rather than me going out and Google searching repetitively and finding little areas and everything else it can go out and do all that for me and then give me a good starting point with links and, you know, references. And that's where I can go and actually verify and look at everything and see where it all is. So I see it as a utility that saves time, which is really a good thing because, you know, it's, you know, there's a lot that goes into this, you know, I, I, I'm actually amazed. I never thought about, you know, how, how much goes into, uh, you know, finding a guest, getting a guest on the show, researching the guest, uh, you know, having an idea of what they do, what they're about, where they came from, you know, what their story is, et cetera. Um, what their credentials are, you know, all that good stuff. Uh, and then, you know, after having a conversation, then going through all the edit club publishing and then, you know, clip creation and all the other stuff, it's, it's a lot of, you know, it's time consuming.
47:58 It really is. Yeah. And you get the no shows. Don't, don't call them out. Yeah, no, that's, That's fine. I mean, look, you know, we've, you know, we've had a few no-shows. Um, most, well, I guess about half of them, it's been honest, like oops. And Hey, look, stuff happens, right? We all, we all lead busy lives and things happen. Stuff comes up out of the blue and things get lost in the mess. And it just, it's just reality. Um, we missed one and I was very apologetic for that.
48:40 Right. And it was, you know, coming back from two weeks of no screen time on vacation. And I thought the episode was the day after we got back and it wasn't, it was the day we got back and totally blew it. But apologized. We got the person on, we did an episode. So usually it's an okay thing. It's the ones that are like, they reach out to you and you're like, okay, after doing some vetting, you're like, yeah, let's go ahead and do this and set it up. And then they schedule the time on your calendar. Um, and then they just no show. And then you don't hear from them for a week and they're like, oh yeah, whoops. And they're like, let's reschedule.
49:21 And so you reschedule with them and then they're like, same thing, just don't show up. And you don't hear from for like a week and then, and it's like, you know, look, you know, one time is an, is an issue and, and, you know, but not responding to the person saying, Hey, you know, we sat and waited for you and, you know, hope everything's okay. And let us know if you want to reschedule or you had to change a heart and you don't get any message back. And then, you know, they do it again and the same, it's like, yeah, no, I'm not rescheduling with you at this point. It's just not going to happen.
50:01 On the bright side, we had a nice conversation, you know, every time that happens, we get to hang out. Yes, absolutely. Which is always good. It's always good because I don't get to talk to you very much because you don't have a phone. Phone. I don't know. Write a letter. Yeah, no, I'm not waiting. Put a stamp on it. Put a stamp on it. Go to the mailbox. You can get the exercise of the mailbox, slap it in there, put the flag up. A lot of people forget what that's like, how much fun it is. I don't even have stamps. I have a box of envelopes though. Yeah. Cause I needed one at one point and I just went, we were at Costco.
50:43 So I bought a Costco size box of envelopes, like a thousand envelopes or something. Are they the kind you got to lick or the kind that the peel off strip? Yeah. You lick them. It's part of the fun. Do you actually lick them or do you use? I do. It's like your brush with water. You never know what kind of disease or whatever is on there or pathogen or something. It could be ricin. I don't know. Just spin that, spin that wheel, pull the hammer back and lick. That's me. Gross. Get her done. Gross. Hey man, if my immune system's weak, then well, I don't know what to say. Yeah.
51:23 No, thanks. I'll pass on that. I'll just use my finger under the faucet. All good. Ah, you know, little glue never hurt anyone. Didn't she? You've never seen that episode of Seinfeld then, have you? No, I have not. I'm just a really big Seinfeld fan. I, you know, I enjoyed, you know, I watched some episodes here and there, uh, and I enjoyed them, but it was just never something I thought, yeah, I'd like to watch that. Do you know the characters on there at least? Yeah, I know. There's, there's, uh, I, I can't remember. There what Newman and there George and there Seinfeld And there that that lady I can remember her name What Elaine Elaine Elaine Okay And then there uh my favorite dude was the big tall dude Kramer.
52:14 Jerry. Yeah. Kramer. So anyway, on the, on the one that George, you know, which is Jerry's best friend, I guess that he's getting married and he, and he tries to be cheap and he buys the cheaper envelopes for sending out the invitations to his wedding. And his fiance ended up licking them. That's how they killed her off the show because they were, the glue was toxic. I don't know the story behind, you know, whether she wanted to leave or not, but that's how they got her off the show. She probably asked for more money. That's, I think, what the majority of the, you know, star characters or or you know real role based characters not extras i think usually when they're pushed off of a show i think probably nine times out of ten they went and asked for more money yeah the studio just went bye they were making money they probably could have paid it could have pretty big back in the day there's a big difference between being able to pay for something and wanting to pay for it though yeah yeah and i think that's where that comes in yeah yeah fair enough yeah i guess or maybe they asked for like you know some kind of royalty or whatever i don't know how that whole industry really works i don't know yeah but i would imagine they get some kind of a you know like for reruns and you know move uh you know
53:50 like DVDs or, you know, you know, digital media downloads, et cetera. I'd imagine they get some kind of a, you know, you know, five cents or 10 cents per or something. I don't know. I'd hope it'd be more than that. I don't know. I mean, you think about it, you know, they sell 10 million copies of this stuff and you get 10 cents per. It's not bad. I know that I know with these streaming services that they're not making much off them. At least the music side, those guys are all crying that they ain't making any money anymore. Well, you know what? I have no sympathy. I'm sorry. When you, when the average concert ticket is like over a hundred dollars.
54:33 Well, that's how they're making it back now. I'm like, yeah, you know what? Hmm. Hmm. Eh. Eh. i i know you don't like them but i was actually thinking about like back in the day when i would go to see green day and i could get tickets for like eight bucks i mean granted it was a smaller venue but yeah yeah but i mean even still right i mean we used to go see big big name shows you know for 25 bucks 25 i was gonna say like like those big u2 stadium tours were like 30 bucks or something yeah yeah and and yeah maybe you know you get floor seats for like 40 bucks or something like that or floor floor access right ga uh and it just was you know it was reasonable back then nowadays you want to go say this to see the same show you're looking at like 150 bucks just just to get your ticket one day yeah all right that's ridiculous i'm sorry excessive mm-hmm yeah nowadays i'll pay 150 bucks if it's a small intimate venue you know what i mean a thousand people or so but you still have a good time there right when you go yeah but we rarely go i like i like live music but we rarely go because it's just stupid expensive and it's a pain in the ass and now they're like you know my wife has to you know take like some clear little baggy thing or something
56:04 because what the really um you know she can't take a little clutch with her you know because you know probably a terrorist or something you know hiding a freaking i don't know what the hell they're thinking right it's a little clutch what the hell you know yeah i don't know yeah what yeah i think you're gonna bring a explosive in there or something yeah i mean you know next logical next step is you know men have to come with with pants that have no pockets in them and you know i mean like really where are we going with all this i know i mean i have been wanded at the entrance to it i don't know that they've really even care they just kind of like like i don't even know that they're actually doing anything except like making appearances and the you know pattern areas for probably you know firearms or something like that yeah an aluminum bat stuffed down your pants or something you know totally inconspicuous yeah i i really don know i think we got we gotten a little too crazy about all that stuff to be honest you know Hmm.
57:23 Yeah. Didn't they just have like a plane try to get hijacked the other day? Oh, the, yeah, well, yeah, the fly Dubai flight. Yeah. I just saw like the headlines. I didn't really look at the article. that story is yeah i mean okay like just just look at it with a critical eye and and think to yourself there's just a lot about that story that just doesn't add up like it just doesn't make sense there's a lot of stories like that there are there are like it's just just doesn't really add up you know i like that i don't want to get into that never mind we're going off the rails i'll take your word for it well you know it's just you know oh yeah you know uh you know i don't know i i don't know just ridiculousness it really is it's just it's it's you know almost like the storytellers aren't even trying anymore. Right. So yeah, it's plausible enough. Ship it.
58:36 It's probably AI generated. Right. Right. Yeah. Like one of the, one of the, one of the people that I follow actually is doing a whole thing on that. Okay. And one of the things is there's a little, you know, cup of water sitting on a tray, a fold out tray. Okay. And ports of what happened in the nose dives, dive of the airplane and everything else. But the cup of water just stayed there perfectly still, no issues. Now I've been in an airplane that hit like a, I don't, I don't know what the technical name is for him, but like an air pocket or whatever it is. Everything just felt like it was dropping out of the sky.
59:19 that is absolutely terrifying i must tell you but i'm telling you right now my cup and my drink did not stay on the tray and i was wearing it okay oh yeah yeah oh yeah yeah so there's there's a lot of inconsistencies about that story that make you go i don't know man i just don't know something like you're telling me two plus two is equal to seven really is it because i don't think it is yeah i i even looked into it that much maybe i'll have to take a look at it see what i think yeah look for the water look look for that there's a clip out there okay it shows shows the cup of water and it's like yeah and and we've got some you know hardened battle plumber who's you know top-notch hand-to-hand combat is that who saved the day yeah i wouldn't have to look into this thing that was getting battle plumber mr battle plumber yeah yeah it's it's just it's it's all very you know what it would be perfect we would movie plot that's how that's how how good it is you know
1:00:50 yeah oh you've got a revolver you just fired you know 120 rounds through it without ever reloading yeah that makes sense hollywood that's that's what it feels like to me hmm yeah but we don't know nobody knows for sure well somebody knows for sure i'm positive of that there are people that know for sure we won't know probably for 30 to 50 to 70 years and then a lot of things like that though pretty much everything yeah yeah most of it yeah it's all fake don't drink the raw milk.
1:01:30 Right. I'm really trying to get someone on here for that because that, that right there is one that just still like, you know, I got my raw milk in the fridge right now. Still not fucking dead, man. I don't know what, you know, it is good. If they put fluoride in the raw milk, it'd probably be all right then. Then they'd say you can drink all you want. Probably. Yeah. Here's, here's your safe dose of a neurotoxin. It's totally safe because it's a neurotoxin. Yes. But if you only have like a little bit of a neurotoxin, it's totally okay. You know? Yeah. Here, eat this poison. It's, you know, it's totally, just don't eat too much of it.
1:02:12 You know, you just stay in this little range right here and you're fine. You just go ahead. Do it daily. All, you know, all the time. Bathe in it. Yeah. Bathe in it. Cook with it. Drink it. Yeah. Yeah. Do that. Speaking of fluoride. Kind of. My, uh, my wife decided to buy us, uh, uh, electric toothbrushes. Fancy. Totally different experience. I am, I am a newbie to like, I guess they had some prime day sales. I don't know, whatever the other day, but she decided to get one on that. It's kind of cool. Like you get the timer built in and like it rewards you with a little light show at the end.
1:02:55 If you make it the whole. did you get the sonicare ones or uh oral b something or other but it's the one without the wi-fi without the screen on it and you know like i guess they have like higher level ones but that's not that one it's just you know like a toothbrush with some kind of led lights that tell you when you're like too much pressure like how much the pressure to use and i mean you're like a little timer thing it tells you hey you did a good job yeah we use the sonicare ones i used to used the oral B and my dentist suggested I move to Sonicare. I think he's getting paid by the company, but you know, whatever. Uh, but, uh, yeah, I mean, they're all basically the same. They're good. You know, they, they have a good, you know, buzzing, rotating, whatever their feature is.
1:03:39 I think oral B was the rotating head and Sonicare is the one that just kind of like, which is really weird. You put in your mouth. This does that too. Maybe I'll send you a link to it. Maybe it's similar. Yeah. I'm not really sure. It probably is. But yeah, I mean, they seem to work really well. My teeth feel nice. Yeah. And if you push too hard, it just goes, yeah, fuck off. And stops like giving you the full power and just goes, and you're like, okay, fine. It's like, it's a little bit to get used to, I guess. Cause, uh, you know, like you're used to doing the whole like back and forth thing. And I guess that's really not what you want to be doing. So not with that thing at least, but.
1:04:20 Yeah. They all have different instructions. And ours is just kind of a slow, this full front to back. Let it do the action. Exactly. And I catch myself sometimes like, Oh, scrub right there. And it's like, no, no danger. Will Robinson, you have been reported to the police. Prussian too hard is against the law. You might hurt your gums and that might in some way, shape or form affect society. Here's your ticket. Oh there that Imagine that dude your toothbrush nerking on you for brushing too hard That why I didn get the Wi model Yeah see That pretty smart But how do you know it doesn have a radio transmitter in there It might.
1:05:09 Transmitting all your toothbrush brushing telemetry back to the home base. They know when you brush, how often you brush. Just like the TV. TV tells on you, too. Right, right? Or that LG. Was it LG that got busted or whatever? the hackers and they found that things were recording even when it was off. Oh yeah, probably. I'm sure they all do it. Yeah, yeah. Why do you think they sell you like an 87 inch TV for like 125 bucks? Right, because you are the product. Yeah. That's why. You are the product. There's that psychological and behavioral profiling. That's what they want. You can't even turn the thing on without accepting the 47 page end user agreement.
1:05:56 Yeah. That's like the Vizio TVs through Walmart or something like that. Well, Vizio bought out like on and they're owned by Walmart now. So. Yeah. And so you have to have your Walmart app and you have to log on to it with your Walmart account. Yeah. You know what? No. literally if that's the only kind of tv available when ours bites the dust i'm done no tv sorry i'm not i'm not playing your silly games anymore i'm done i'm always i had a nice little tv still death you wish what i had a little b still i mean at the time like nobody wanted them but now they're starting to get expensive again probably because people are sick of like being the product i guess they work better for like these older games they they look better on them than the newer tvs yeah they do the way they do the scan lines and whatnot they just kind of look crappy on these flat tvs they do yep yeah i i don't know man i'm i'm really over being subscriptioned to death though i'm really over it yeah i think a lot of people are but as long as people keep paying it, they're going to keep doing it.
1:07:12 Yep. Now they got, well, now people are starting to push back. A lot of people, there's a lot of people that are like, I don't want this anymore. Hmm. I want my TV, my TV to be a TV, my fridge to be a fridge. It doesn have to be internet connected Does nothing for me Like yo well your grocery list we detected that you know what shut the fuck up I going to open the door and go oh the milk low I need milk. Okay. Like, have we become so brain dead we can't figure out what groceries we need to buy? Yep. But, you know, the app for the oven is the most unreal.
1:07:54 thing honestly like it's got time wi-fi too yeah of course it is yeah why wouldn't it i've never done anything with it but it comes up in the network list all the time if i knew where the chip was i'd go in there with a solder gun and just hot poke right through the freaking thing error they'd probably disable my entire stove probably bastards yeah but you know hey here we are i think more and more people though are really sick of this stuff you know and the you know the car manufacturers like oh yeah and it comes with heated seats for $19.99 a month you know dude i bought all of the stuff except like you want to electronically leash me to a subscription for what i already purchased like i paid for the hardware i paid for everything about this that makes it work and you're going to electronically shut it off if i don't pay you a fee every month yeah one of my favorites is the uh these cars with the you know remote start yeah like it's through your phone now it's not like on the key fob so if you want it past like the the one year after buying it brand new you gotta pay for that every month or you like you can't use it yep they lure you in there giving you the for free for the first year yeah yeah it's time it's time i think you know i don't know you know
1:09:28 fleet vehicle purchases are starting to sound really nice you know like roll-up windows like actual physical roll-ups like am fm radio that's it you know still you like you know like you buy one of those fleet pickup trucks it's still 40 something grand for a stripped down pickup truck with the base engine yeah it better than 70 grand for the one with all the bells and whistles that monitors every move that true i don know Yeah That why these old uh 80s trucks are getting expensive now I think so. I think more and more people are, are really kind of honestly just sick of this, like being bilked at every turn for the next way to make more money from the consumer.
1:10:19 We've raised prices and to the point where people just aren't buying as much. So what do we do now? We make everything a subscription. What? Whose idea was that? We need the tar and feather them. I think, I think that would be a glorious, I, we could live stream that. Probably not. We'd probably get in trouble. Okay. No, we don't want to do that. Maybe you should bring back tar and feathering. I mean, I've never personally seen it. I'm a big fan. I'm a big fan. I think there, there, you know, there could be like a, you know, permanent little stand somewhere in, Washington, D.C., you know, just, just set it up permanently, keep the tar nice and warm, you know, keep the feathers dry.
1:11:04 I mean, you don't want to burn them with it, right? Just enough to make the feathers stick? Yeah, well, that's my, my take on it. I don't want to harm anyone. But, you know, making them walk around for the next, you know, week or two with feathers stuck to their skin and tar. Yeah. Everyone knows exactly what happened to you. and why yeah you know little little public shaming would go a long way i think maybe some people have no shame whatsoever anyway this is true this is true all right man well i gotta get back to the grind fun fun yeah i know but it must be done someone must do it So here's the guy.
